Nicole and Timothy Consecration

On Friday the 13th, Nicole and Timothy were consecrated at Temple B’nai Shalom. This commitment to Judaism is just the first step among many. Both Nicole and Timothy received their small Torah’s which they will keep for life. In addition to the Consecration, that day was Simchat Torah, or the Holiday for the Joy of Torah, when the Torah was given to the Jewish people. It is also the last reading of the Torah for the year and traditionally, the scroll is rolled back to the beginning to start the reading from Genesis. At B’nai Shalom, they brought out two Torah’s in which they read the last passage from one and the first passage from the other. The Torah ends with the letter Lamed and begins with the letter Bet which spells “Lev” or “Heart”. A couple of more pictures are posted on the new photo album.
